May
This will be a very special evening, as our Scouts will be crossing over to their new new rank. Please note that the Pack will provide new rank neckerchiefs and slides, families must provide the new rank hats and books.
For this special event, we will be meeting outside at Van Horne Woods (East), which is located off of the I-55 Frontage Road, north of Caton Farm Road.
Since this will be an outdoor meeting, we have to watch the weather very closely. Our rain location will be indoors at the River View gym. The outdoor event will be relocated if there is any chance of rain or lightning. Please check your email frequently on the evening of the 16th and 17th, as changes due to weather will be sent out via email.
April
This month the Webelos Scouts put their engineering skills to the test. Each Scout constructed a bridge made out of craft sticks, built to strict specifications. During our Pack meeting, we tested each bridge to see exactly how much weight it could hold.
March
Pack 99 held its' second annual Movie Night. The attraction for the evening was "Toy Story 3", and the scouts and siblins seemed to enjoy themselves!
The Scouts also marched in the Plainfield St. Patrick's Day parade this month. Parents, please send your photos to Cubmaster Bob.
February
In February we hold our Annual Blue and Gold Banquet. This is our opportunity to celebrate and recognize our scouts, leaders and most importantly, the crossover of our WEBELOS II Scouts from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. This year our Blue and Gold Banquet was held on Sunday, February 24th, 2013.
January
Pinewood Derby is complete, and all of the Scouts did an excellent job working on their cars. Scouts were given their car kits in December, and had until our January Pack Meeting to complete their car.
This year one of our Bear Scouts set a new track record with a time of 3.666 seconds!
I would like to thank all of the parents and leaders who helped to make this event a huge success! We should have some pictures soon, but in the meantime, here are the Pinewood Derby results.
Cub Scout Day Camp will be one of lifes most memorable Scouting experiences for you and your son. At Day Camp, Cub Scouts have opportunities to learn new skills, enhance old ones and work towards rank requirements, but most rewarding, just have LOTS OF SUMMER TIME FUN! In support of Scoutings mission and vision, this element of Rainbow Councils summer camp program has been designed to: promote character development; generate an awareness of the responsibilities of citizenship and leadership, and perpetuate mental and physical development. |
Resident camp is a great experience because it offers a unique opportunity to spend time with your son in an outdoor setting. No other Scouting activity offers such an intense opportunity to see Scoutings values on display as modeled by our superb staff. It is an experience he will never forget! |
Parents, we could really use your help! Please download a copy of the Volunteer Form and let us know how you can help. Please contact Bob, Will, or your Den Leader if you have any questions or are interested in helping Pack 99. The success of our Pack depends on parent volunteers as well as our leaders! |

“No man is much good unless he believes in God and obeys His laws. So every Scout should have a religion .... Religion seems a very simple thing: First: Love and serve God. Second: Love and serve your neighbour.”
